Welcome home!
The institute: your second home. We won’t be talking (despite the title) about your ‘Home Sweet Home’.
However, we’ll instead be taking a closer look at the place where you actually spend most of your time: your beauty salon!
The institute, your home away from home
Why might it be essential to analyse your working environment?
It simply reflects your work, your experience, your skills, your personality, your tastes, your commitment to your customers (and so on…)
We could easily describe your living room as a showcase for your home, or talk about the significant financial investment that goes into furnishing it…
But first and foremost, we wanted to talk to YOU.
As we’ve said, your college is your second home. For most of you, it’s even where you spend most of your time.
A place free from children’s toys, socks lying about, and that flatmate who’s absolutely determined to put that dreadful abstract sculpture they found at a garage sale in the hall. In short…
Now let’s talk about your sanctuary
Unless you’re a franchisee, your salon is the place where you—and you alone—decide everything: from the atmosphere that recharges your batteries, to the décor, the furnishings and the materials.
Just imagine: the very best version of your home. A haven of freedom! A blank canvas just waiting for you to paint! (Am I getting a bit carried away again? Probably ….)
Create a sensory atmosphere that reflects your personality
Whether it’s colourful, monochrome, maximalist or minimalist, this place remains your haven.
This place suits you, but be careful – it shouldn’t look too personal either; no family photos in the Larzac.
Our times and social media inspire us and help us to style our spaces. Make the most of these tools! They’re a great help when you’re short of ideas.
We’re breathing new life into consumption by being inspiring.
Your furniture and décor are no longer merely functional; they showcase your services and products.
Why not take some photos of each area of your salon? Do you like it?
If the answer is ‘no’, have another think about them! Treat yourself and trust yourself.
Make the most of this moment of complete creative freedom to think about what you consider to be the ideal atmosphere, and see your vision through to the end.
You will then guide your client into this uncharted territory, which promises a truly relaxing experience. Everything has been designed with her in mind; she can let go and simply drift away.
Order, tranquillity, comfort…
When people ask us which is the best Fille au Pluriel wax, we always reply:
“The one that inspires you! Quite simply, the wax you enjoy using”
It is also because you will feel right at home in this space that you will perform your treatments with passion. You will look forward to stepping through the door of your salon each morning. You will feel a sense of pride and joy as you settle your client in. The precious treatments you provide will be set against a backdrop that truly does them justice.
I’m sure you can already picture it…
Your haven of well-being is now ready to win over customers. You are the guide on this journey (or interlude). There are therefore a few key points to bear in mind.
- Lighting. Make the most of beautiful natural light, but be mindful of overlooking properties. It lifts the spirits of those working there and gives customers a sense of space.
- Lighting should be positioned at strategic points throughout the sales area. Opt for soft lighting in the treatment areas.
- Health and safety, needless to say, will be at the heart of your project.
- Make sure you don’t turn your salon into a dumping ground for all the dubious gifts you’ve been given (including Mother’s Day presents). – Apologies to our little darlings.
- Keep only what inspires you and brings you joy. For example, when you lay eyes on an ultra-girly apple-shaped wax melter.
- Sort through your stock and give away any items you no longer wish to sell in your beloved shop – it’s sure to make a customer happy.
- Awaken your senses, light a wax melter and let the gentle scent of the wax create a wonderful atmosphere.
- And don’t forget: the glow of a candle also lights up our hearts.
- Choose your ingredients carefully. At a beauty salon, we’re all about gentleness!
- Towels, throws, rugs … Coordinate your textiles and choose beautiful fabrics.
- Please also keep an eye on the temperature in your rooms. Maintain a temperature of 20°C in the reception area and 22–24°C in the rest and treatment area.
Are you setting up a business or planning to carry out building work?
Don’t forget about soundproofing and thermal insulation: two factors that play a major role in comfort.
A must for experiencing true luxury: a tea corner offering coffee, tea, biscuits, or a few almonds and violet sweets (a nod to Mistinguette) will delight your clients.
When your salon inspires confidence and enjoyment
The idea is that each of our five senses should take centre stage.
So, have you ever considered the importance of sensory pleasure in your salon?
In your opinion, what areas do you think need work to turn your “place” into a real little corner of paradise?
